BROOKLYN AND PATCHOGUE, NY – OCTOBER 12, 2005 – S. Elizabeth A. Hill, CSJ, JD, President of St. Joseph’s College, was honored by the Lighthouse Mission on September 29, 2005 at their third annual “Feed the Children” fundraiser held at the Patchogue Manor in Patchogue. Also honored that evening were New York State Senator Caesar Trunzo, WBAB/WBLI and Christine Coniff Sheahan from Networking Magazine. News 12 Long Island anchor and St. Joseph’s College alumna Danielle Campbell served as the Master of Ceremonies.
The Lighthouse Mission has been dedicated to feeding the poor on Long Island since January 1992. Today they are feeding over one thousand people a week, giving out approximately 350,000 meals to people who have a need. The heart of the people at the Mission is to reach out to others and see that no child will go to bed hungry.
“St. Joseph’s College is very proud to support the Lighthouse Mission for their commitment to feeding the hungry on Long Island,” said S. Elizabeth Hill. “The Mission has served as an inspiration to our students, who are encouraged to develop personal value systems, responsible self-direction and commitment to participation in local and global communities through volunteerism and donations,” she said. “We live in the same spirit, and salute the Mission for their continued work and dedication to service.”
An active member of the Long Island community, S. Elizabeth is on the Steering Committee of the Long Island Regional Advisory Council on Higher Education (LIRACHE), vice chair of the Long Island Association (LIA) and on the Board of Directors of the Fair Media Council, the Independence Community Foundation, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Fort Greene Strategic Neighborhood Partnership (SNAP) and the Myrtle Avenue Revitalization Project.

She is also a three-time recipient of Long Island Business News’ “Top 50 Women” award for her consistent record as one of the region’s most important and influential women, making her a Hall of Fame Honoree.
