College Closing Information

In the event of severe weather, School Closing information will be posted here.

General Policies and Procedures:

1. Unless the situation is serious, the College prefers not to close, because days of instruction which are missed must be made up. This is not easily arranged within the College calendar.


2. Assuming the College is open, no one is expected to endanger life or limb in order to get here. Faculty are asked to postpone quizzes on such a day.


3. BROOKLYN ONLY: As a rule, if the City University closes, St. Joseph's is closed. If the City University is open, it is possible that St. Joseph's may decide to close, if conditions warrant it.


4. The decision to close is made early as possible. In addition to this webpage, listen for announcements on these radio or TV stations:
   a. WCBS (880 AM) and WINS (1010 AM)    [Brooklyn]
   b. WALK (97.5), or watch TV station News 12 Long Island    [Suffolk]
   
   Please remember: St. Joseph's has two campuses -- one campus may be open while another is closed.


5. If the College is closed, a message will be posted here and on the following campus telephone numbers:

This procedure will only be used if the College is closing or having a delayed opening.
