About the Institutional Review Board (IRB)

All research with human subjects conducted by (1) SJC faculty, administration, staff or students; on (2) SJC students; or at (3) SJC facilities is subject to the regulations of the IRB developed by the faculty and accepted by the administration in April 2010. Individuals intending to conduct such research should carefully examine the mission, regulations, and procedures of the IRB to determine which, if any, application for IRB review is required and to develop sufficient familiarity with the review process in order to complete it in a timely fashion. Additionally, during the development of potential research protocols, individuals should seek input from appropriate IRB representatives as to their ethical viability. Communication between investigators and IRB representatives early in the protocol development process supports the educational goal of the IRB and can ease the subsequent formal review process. Investigators should use the links to to left to access information or forms they will need.
