Mathematics

Teach a computer how to learn tic-tac-toe. Study traffic light sequences, airline routes, chaos theory and the algebra of Rubik’s Cube. St. Joseph’s mathematics students have recently enjoyed these opportunities among many others.

Whether you are taking mathematics as a major, minor or concentration for child study or adolescence education, our B.S. or B.A. in Mathematics can lead to a substantial number of careers. Some of our mathematics graduates are currently working as teachers, college professors, computer scientists, research mathematicians, financial analysts and operation research professionals.

Along with our B.S. in Computer Information Technology, the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science also offers a program where students can earn their bachelor’s from the College and a subsequent master’s in computer science from Polytechnic Institute at New York University in just five years.

A B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science is offered at St. Joseph's Long Island Campus only.
