BROOKLYN, N.Y. – MAY 1, 2018 – St. Joseph’s College, in partnership with Greenlight Bookstore, is pleased to welcome Michael Chabon as part of its spring Brooklyn Voices lecture series. Chabon will discuss his new book, Pops: Fatherhood in Pieces, in conversation with author Julie Orringer on Wednesday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. in SJC Brooklyn’s Tuohy Hall Auditorium. 

“With noted programs in both child study and creative writing, Chabon's new book and upcoming talk strike a unique chord in the intellectual life of SJC,” said Michael Hanophy, Ph.D., SJC Brooklyn interim executive dean and professor of biology. “As both a father and an academic, I look forward to hearing of Chabon's appreciation of his son's passions and growth in his distinctive literary voice.”

In 2016, Chabon wrote a piece for GQ Magazine about accompanying his son, Abraham, to Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Despite his own indifference, what gradually emerged as Chabon ferried his son to and from fashion shows was a deep respect for his son’s passion.
