SJC Brooklyn Announces New Clinton Hill Courses

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – March 18, 2019 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce brand new Clinton Hill Courses, a series of continuing education offerings that reflect the diversity of both its scholars and the interests of the surrounding community.

The courses are the following:

  • Science, Technology and the Great War: Wednesdays, April 10 – April 24, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Led by Michael Hanophy, Ph.D., SJC Brooklyn’s interim executive dean for academic affairs and professor of biology. Cost is $150.
  • Memoir Writing: Mondays, April 29 – June 10, 7-9 p.m. Led by writer and journalist Bliss Broyard. Cost is $400.
  • Ekphrastic Poetry Writing Workshop: Mondays, April 29 – June 10, 7:30-9:30 p.m. Led by Joanna C. Valente. Cost is $300.
  • Philosophy of the Child: Philosophy With Children: Tuesdays, April 30 – May 14, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Led by Wendy Turgeon, Ph.D., SJC Long Island’s interim executive dean and professor of philosophy. Cost is $150.
  • Collage Mixed Media: Tuesdays, April 30 – May 21, 7-9 p.m. Led by Sabra Embury. Cost is $200.

“For the second incarnation of SJC Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill Courses, we welcome a fascinating group of instructors to share their unique passions and talents with our neighbors,” said Michael Hanophy, Ph.D., interim executive dean and professor of biology at SJC Brooklyn. “With a range of courses on writing, mixed-media art and the liberal arts, these courses offer a glimpse of the intellectual life taking place at St. Joseph's College.”
