BROOKLYN AND PATCHOGUE, NY – August 11, 2014 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) was recently recognized for its nationwide reputation of affordability and value by Great Value Colleges. With the least expensive net price, the ranking agency named SJC as the number one most affordable private institution in the Northeast.

“It takes a great college with outstanding faculty and administration to assist its students in achieving high graduation and retention rates, yet be able to consistently maintain one of the most affordable tuitions in the New York Metropolitan area,” said Theresa LaRocca Meyer, vice president for enrollment management at SJC. “We are so pleased to be recognized by these various ranking agencies, because it validates that we are doing something right.”

With campuses in Brooklyn and Long Island, SJC offers the lowest tuition of all top-tier private colleges on Long Island and is one of the most affordable private institutions in the New York Metropolitan area. SJC’s continued dedication to highly personalized instruction—which is reflected in the 15:1 faculty/student ratio and small class sizes—and its strong freshman retention rate, factors into the national rankings.

Great Value Colleges used eight categories for its ranking criteria that included, 6-year graduation rate, freshman retention rate, student-to-faculty ratio, percentage of classes taught by TAs, average entrance ACT score, number of campus organizations, number of academic programs and the Forbes ranking.

SJC was also recently ranked by Money magazine for its reputation of affordability. As part of its methodology, Money magazine ranked 665 four-year colleges as part of its “Best Colleges for Your Money” list using unique measures of educational quality, affordability and career outcomes.
