St. Joseph’s College to Host Discover Long Island’s Travel Symposium

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – Discover Long Island will hold its First Annual Tourism Symposium on Wednesday, September 13 from 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m. at SJC Long Island in Patchogue.

During the all-day program, there will be a presentation by Fred Dixon, president and CEO for NYC & Company, and a 2018 Long Island tourism forecast provided by Ali Hoyt, director of consulting and analytics at Smith Travel Research (STR). The Symposium will also include a tourism technology panel by representatives from Booking.com, Expedia and TripAdvisor.

Breakout sessions include the following:

  • Gon’ Local powered by Island Strong will discuss social media strategies for business of all sizes and budgets
  • HelmsBriscoe will share event strategies and best practices for planning meetings
  • Representatives from the Oyster Festival, Pride on the Beach, Alive After Five® and Winterfest  will talk about how to develop large-scale events
