St. Joseph’s University, in partnership with Greenlight Bookstore, is pleased to welcome Eileen Myles as part of its Brooklyn Voices lecture series.
"Literature is pathetic." So claims Eileen Myles in their new edited anthology Pathetic Literature, an exuberant collection of pieces ranging from poetry to drama to prose to something in between, all of which explore those so-called “pathetic” or sensitive feelings around which lives are built and revolutions are incited. Utterly unique, this collection is composed of pieces from luminaries like Franz Kafka, Samuel Delany, and Gwendolyn Brooks to up-and-coming unpublished writers that examine pathos and feeling, giving a well-timed rehab to the word “pathetic." Greenlight and our friends at St. Joseph's University are thrilled to welcome Eileen Myles, one of America’s most celebrated poets and a cult(ural) icon, along with an esteemed cast of fellow authors and contributors, for an evening celebrating the publication of Pathetic Literature.
