Brooklyn Voices Presents Hanya Yanagihara

January 21, 2016

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – January 21, 2016 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC), in partnership with Greenlight Bookstore, is pleased to announce that it will welcome acclaimed author Hanya Yanagihara to discuss her latest work, A Little Life, in conversation with Buzzfeed’s Isaac Fitzgerald. This talk, the second of the spring Brooklyn Voices lecture series, will take place on Thursday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m. in SJC Brooklyn’s Tuohy Hall Auditorium.

"With A Little Life, Hanya Yanagihara has taken her place among the most critically acclaimed writers in the literary world," said Dr. Jill Rehmann, SJC Brooklyn vice president of academic affairs. "We're delighted that she will discuss her latest work as part of the spring Brooklyn Voices series and share her insights with our students and the community."

Yanagihara’s beloved novel, A Little Life, took the literary world by storm in 2015. Included in many top Best of the Year lists, the novel won the Kirkus Prize and was a shortlist finalist for the Man Booker Prize, the National Book Award and the Carnegie Medal. A Little Life follows the lives of four college classmates as they move to New York in search of fame and fortune. While their relationships, tinged with addiction, success and pride, deepen over the decades, the men are held together by their devotion to the brilliant and enigmatic Jude, a man scarred by an unspeakable childhood trauma. Yanagihara will speak on stage with Isaac Fitzgerald of Buzzfeed.

Tickets for this event are $17 and include a copy of the book and an opportunity to have it signed following the talk.
