SJC Council for the Arts Presents Calle Sur

September 27, 2011

BROOKLYN, NY September 28, 2011 - St. Josephs College Council for the Arts is pleased to announce that Latin American musical duo, Calle Sur will perform a concert entitled, "Latin Collage on Thursday, October 6 at 12:40 p.m. in the Tuohy Hall Auditorium, 245 Clinton Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. The event is free and open to the public.

In the differences that exist between the two musicians that make up Calle Sur, viewers quickly see why the terms Hispanic and Latino cannot be easily summarized. The upbringing of Ed East, characterized by the noise, hustle and bustle of his native Panama City, embodies the individuality, innovation and creativity of Latin music. In contrast, Karin Stein, his Colombian partner, brings the vastly different perspective of her rural upbringing to the music of Calle Sur. Performing a wide range of music on a multitude of instruments, Calle Sur brings to life the rich diversity of Latin America, challenges cultural and ethnic preconceptions, and lifts the spirit of the audience with the vitality and energy of their music.
