SJC to Welcome Reverend Anne Gardner

September 26, 2018

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – September 26, 2018 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to welcome Reverend Anne Gardner to present the College’s annual Founders Day Lecture on Tuesday, October 2 at 12:40 p.m. Her talk, “Lessons From The Road: Reflections on Chance, Choice and the Camino de Santiago,” will take place in the Tuohy Hall Auditorium at SJC Brooklyn.

“For this year's Founders Day Lecture, we elected to examine the themes of lifelong learning and faith as they pertain to one's journey of discovery,” said Michael Hanophy, Ph.D., interim executive dean and professor of biology at SJC Brooklyn. “Reverend Gardner's career is a prime example of how one's search for knowledge need not be linear to possess deep insight, clarity and purpose.”

Reverend Gardner has served as director of the chapel at Philips Andover since 2008, the first person to hold this position in the 240 year history of the institution. She is currently writing a memoir on the spiritual, emotional and physical challenges of traversing the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile pilgrimage that extends across the width of northern Spain.

Every year, SJC celebrates the pioneering spirit of its inaugural class by holding the Founders Day lecture. This lecture, which has featured some of the most dynamic and respected figures in a wide range of disciplines, serves as a living testament to the probing intellect and dedication to learning  shared by the enterprising young women who opened St. Joseph’s doors more than a century ago.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Michael Banach at 718.940.5584 or [email protected].
