St. Joseph’s College Announces 95th Annual Commencement Speaker

BROOKLYN AND PATCHOGUE, N.Y. MAY 15, 2014 - St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that President S. Elizabeth A. Hill, C.S.J., J.D. will be the speaker for both of its annual commencement ceremonies. The Brooklyn Campus commencement ceremony will take place on Friday, May 23 at 11 a.m. at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. The Long Island Campus Commencement will be held on Tuesday, May 27 at 3 p.m. at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. 

One of the regions most influential women, S. Elizabeth Hill, C.S.J., J.D., has been president of St. Josephs College since 1997. Since her inauguration, S. Elizabeth has overseen the expansion of two campuses, most notably the construction of a state-of-the-art Business and Technology Center and 24.8-acre premiere outdoor sports facility on the Long Island Campus, as well as a 44,000-square-foot athletic complex on the Brooklyn Campus. During her tenure as president, S. Elizabeth secured several large grants from the federal government, including the largest in the Colleges history. Under her leadership, the Colleges enrollment and range of academic offerings have continuously increased while tuition has remained consistently among the lowest in the New York metropolitan area. S. Elizabeth has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for her leadership and lifelong dedication to the field of education.

Dedicated to St. Josephs College for 17 years as its president, S. Elizabeth Hill will retire from the position this spring. She will receive honorary Doctor of Arts and Humane Letters degrees at both commencement ceremonies.
