SJC to Hold Second Annual Haute Couture for Humanity Dinner

BROOKLYN, NY November 11, 2009 The Caribbean Student Association and the Fashion Club at St. Josephs College will host its 2nd Annual Haute Couture for Humanity: Art for A Cause fundraising dinner on Friday, November 20 at 7 p.m. in the Tuohy Hall Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $20 and $5 for children under the age of10.

Haute Couture for Humanity will celebrate the diversity of art through several different performances and a fashion show, featuring outfits created and modeled by St. Josephs College students. The main scene of the show will showcase the futuristic work of student Sade Peter, who successfully exhibited her showcase last year. All proceeds from this event will be used towards "An Alternate Spring Break, a trip in which St. Josephs students partner with Habitat for Humanity to build affordable housing for low-income households.

Last year, over 200 people attended the inaugural Haute Couture for Humanity fundraiser and donated nearly $3,000, which was used to support a group of student volunteers who flew to Galveston, Texas to help rebuild houses in impoverished flood-ravaged neighborhoods.
