Joseph Pascarella, Ph.D.'s article, "Concentration Effects of Reentering Parolees and Community Violence: The Potential Impact on Future Recidivism," was published in the Summer 2016 issue of the Civic Research Institute. Dr. Pascarella analyzed parolees from a larger study testing the effectiveness of Day Reporting Centers for reentering offenders. Dr. Pascarella found that parolees reentering society after long terms of incarceration and returning to communities with high rates of violence had very little support mechanisms and were likely to engage in recidivism, continuing a cycle of violence.
