Transferring to the Brooklyn Campus

Our transfer admissions counselors are available to meet with you to discuss academic programs of interest, review the application process and provide preliminary information on transfer credits from previous institutions.

Transfer Credits

We encourage you to take advantage of our Online Transfer Evaluation System, where you can easily access preliminary information about how your courses will transfer to the Brooklyn campus.

If you do not see your institution or a particular class — don’t worry! The Office of Admissions regularly evaluates new courses, so please feel free to email us your courses. We will be happy to evaluate them and add the new equivalencies to our Online Transfer Evaluation System.

Transfer Credit Policy

St. Joseph's University will accept up to 64 credits from a regionally accredited two-year school and up to 90 credits from a regionally accredited four-year school. The total of credits accepted from both a regionally accredited two-year and four-year school combined cannot exceed 90 credits. We will accept comparable courses in which a grade of C- or higher was earned. A grade of D will be considered only if that course was completed as part of an AA or AS degree that was conferred. Grades indicating "Pass" (P) will also be considered for courses completed during the Spring or Summer of 2020. However, some courses may require a higher grade in order to satisfy certain major requirements. All students must complete a minimum of 30 credits* at St. Joseph's University to satisfy the University’s residency requirement.

Students who transfer to one of our professional studies programs may be eligible to receive additional transfer credit and may also be considered for prior experiential learning credit.

*Certain majors may require a minimum of 32 credits be completed at St. Joseph's University. 

Transfer Admissions Process

If you have enrolled in college courses at another institution, after graduating from high school, then you are considered a transfer student. Candidates applying for transfer admission should complete the Online Application or the Common Application and submit the following:

  • A non-refundable $25 application fee.
  • Official transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions attended after high school graduation.
  • If you have completed less than 24 college credits at a regionally accredited college or university or graduated high school less than one year ago, you must also submit your final high school transcript.

St. Joseph's University offers various discounts to personnel and staff members of certain entities. Discount programs vary and are subject to change. Discount programs may not be combined with any other institutional grants or scholarships. To be considered, students must complete an annual verification form which can be obtained from the Office of Financial Aid.
