Scholarship instructions.

For scholarship consideration, the College recommends that all required admission materials (admission application, high school transcript(s), letter(s) of recommendation and personal essay) be received by the Office of Admission on or before March 15 for fall entering students and Jan. 1 for spring entering students. It is also highly recommended that you submit any of the relevant optional items (optional writing sample, resume/activities and SAT/ACT test results) that you wish to be considered as part of your application review. These items should be submitted before these same deadlines.

Top Tier Scholarships

Entering first year students with a minimum 90 cumulative high school average and a satisfactory portfolio review will be considered. The portfolio review will be influenced by the required and optional items that are submitted including rigor of curriculum, letter(s) of recommendation, personal essay, resume/activities, optional writing sample, demonstrated interest in St. Joseph's College and SAT/ACT test results (if applicable.) Top-tier scholarships begin at $19,000 per year.

Scholastic Achievement Awards

Entering first year students with a minimum 80 cumulative high school average and a satisfactory portfolio review will be considered. Scholastic achievement awards range from $12,000 - $16,000 per year.

ACES Grants

The ACES Program for English Language and Culture awards a $14,000 per year grant to eligible first year students students who have immigrated to the United States within the last eight years, have a language other than English as their first language and have completed their high school coursework while acquiring a foundation in reading, writing and English.

Additional SJC Scholarships and Grants

  • C.S.J. Grant - $3,000
    Admitted first-year students graduating from a high school that is sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph (C.S.J.) are considered for this grant. The C.S.J. Grant may be combined with other awards, however, the combination of awards cannot exceed tuition.
  • Catholic High School Grant - $4,000
    Admitted first-year students graduating from a Catholic high school will be considered for this grant. The Catholic High School Grant cannot be combined with any other academic merit award the student may have received.
  • High School Bridge Partner Grant - $4,000
    Admitted first-year students who have successfully completed a college credit bearing course(s) with the St. Joseph's College Bridge Program at their high school will be considered for this grant. The High School Bridge Partner Grant cannot be combined with any other academic merit award the student may have received.
  • Out-of-Area Grant - $5,000
    Admitted first-year students whose primary residence is outside of the New York metropolitan area will be considered for this grant.The Out-of-Area Grant may be combined with some awards, however, the combination of awards cannot exceed tuition.
  • Transportation Grant - $2,000
    Admitted first-year students whose primary residence is in Staten Island, NY will be considered for this grant. The Transportation Grant may be combined with some awards, however, the combination of awards cannot exceed tuition.
  • Alumni Grant - $1,000
    Admitted first-year students who share a recognized legacy bond will be considered for this grant. The Alumni Grant may be combined with some awards, however, the combination of awards cannot exceed tuition.
