George Fertal is an adjunct professor of criminal justice at St. Joseph’s College. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from Empire State College and a Master of Science in Professional Studies from Long Island University.

He previously served with the Nassau County Police Department as a patrol officer and a video technician for the training bureau. He, then, became a New York State Certified Crime Prevention Officer and provided public lectures regarding crime prevention to educational institutions, governmental bodies, and community groups.

George has years of experience as a Forensic Detective for Nassau County Police Department where he worked in a certified laboratory environment on case work related to Firearms Identification/Ballistics.

He finds bringing his personal military, aerospace, and police background to the classroom allows students to experience so much additional personal knowledge. His other interests include golf, running, fine art photography, and playing electric guitar.
