Bio

Gigi Lamens is the vice president for enrollment management at St. Josephs College. With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, she is considered an expert in college admissions, financial aid and many aspects of the SAT program. She has been at SJC since 2006.

Recognizing the important role parents play in college recruitment and retention, Ms. Lamens was responsible for initiating one of the first Parent Offices at Stony Brook University in the early 90s. In 2009, she co-founded the Long Island Education Awareness Partnership (LIEAP), whose mission is to expand early awareness of the college planning process and provide educational opportunities after high school to Long Island students and families, particularly those least likely to consider post-secondary education.

Ms. Lamens has presented extensively on the topics of college admissions, recruitment, retention and higher education, and she has held numerous professional affiliations and memberships in the field. She has served in leadership roles for various professional organizations such as The College Board, the National Association for College Admissions Counseling and the Sponsored Scholarship Program of the Educational Testing Center. She has served on many state, regional and national committees in her field such as the National SAT Advisory Committee and the National Guidance and Admissions Council.  She currently serves on the New York State Advisory Council, the New York State Association of College Admissions Counselors Legislative Concerns Committee and the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Scholarship Committee.

Prior to working at SJC, Ms. Lamens held the positions of vice president for enrollment management at Hofstra University and assistant provost and dean of admissions and enrollment services at Stony Brook University, respectively. She also worked at Polytechnic University and Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute.
