Bio

Kestrel Perez, Ph.D., is an associate professor of biology at St. Joseph's University, New York. Dr. Perez's research is centered on marine biology, and specifically, fish and invertebrate evolutionary ecology. She studies life history traits and maternal investments, and how variation in these can influence larval fitness and recruitment. In addition, Dr. Perez researches the underlying environmental causes behind variation in life history traits and maternal investments by combining syntheses of the literature, field surveys, laboratory experiments and statistical analysis. She holds a Ph.D. in Marine and Atmospheric Science from Stony Brook University and a B.S. in Marine Science Vertebrate from Southampton College, Long Island University.

Scholarly & Professional Interests

My research interests are centered on marine biology, and specifically, fish and invertebrate evolutionary ecology. I study life history traits and maternal investments, and how variation in these can influence larval fitness and recruitment.
