Assistant to the Director (2nd OPEN POSITION)

Primary duties include assisting the Director in providing administrative support to Graduate Management Studies students and faculty. Also, assists with special projects assigned by the Director. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Director with special projects
  • Advise and register students
  • Maintain academic records for GMS students.
  • Facilitate Change of Program, Change of Degree/Concentration, Drop/Add, and Addition of Degree/Concentration forms
  • Follow up Incomplete and AB grades
  • Maintain student research projects and faculty assessment reports
  • Track team research projects
  • Monitor and record completion of prerequisite courses
  • Update student files for new grades, transfer credits, and proficiency exam credits
  • Prepare academic histories and letters for GMS students on academic probation
  • Record minutes of Academic Development Committee meetings
  • Administer waiver exams via Canvas
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve student issues and concerns
  • Provide support to GMS faculty
  • Prepare department correspondence, including memos to faculty and staff.
  • Update New Student Orientation PowerPoint presentation, when needed
  • Maintain Graduation, Leave of Absence and Withdrawn Students Lists for GMS students
  • Collaborate with Director on semester scheduling
  • Coordinate all remote and video conference courses with Brooklyn for classroom enrollment numbers
  • Assist with annual revision of GMS Student Handbook and website
  • Supervise work study students and summer student employees

Skills and Competencies

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with faculty, students, colleagues, supervisors, and other college personnel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience in using Colleague, Canvas, and Student Planning preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of administrative experience
