Reporting to both the College President and the Vice President of Student Life (VPSL), the Associate Vice President is a member of the President’s Cabinet and a strategic partner for the Division of Student Life. The AVPSL will work with a diverse student body and, thereby, must possess a passion for, and knowledge of, cultural inclusion. The AVPSL is currently responsible for the supervision of the following areas: Student Involvement, Leadership and Multicultural Programming; Campus Ministry; Career Preparation and Professional Development; Counseling and Wellness Services; Judicial Affairs; Student Accessibility Services; Student Health Services; and student clubs and organizations. The AVPSL will carry out the President’s vision for the Student Life Division at SJC Long Island and will provide leadership and strategic direction, as well as ensure the delivery of effective and quality service to students. The AVPSL serves as SJC Long Island’s Student Chief Conduct Officer, provides advice and counsel to the Vice President regarding the overall student experience, and serves as an advocate for the student body. The AVPSL will provide an executive presence in the leadership of the division across functions in the absence of, and as assigned by, the VPSL.
