Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in sociology

The Department of Social Sciences at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, New York, aims to fill one tenure-track position in sociology at the rank of assistant professor, starting in September 2022. We seek applications from scholars who have demonstrated promising research and excellence in teaching. Expertise in the areas of race and inequality, and strengths teaching undergraduate research methods and statistics are desired. The teaching load is 4 classes per semester. The College will begin offering an MSW degree program in the fall and a background that would support students interested in the program and related careers would be a plus, as would cross-disciplinary capabilities. We are a mission-driven liberal arts college located on Long Island, NY, and have a congenial and dedicated faculty who support the College with a sociology major and minor, as well as offering numerous liberal arts core courses.

With campuses in Brooklyn and Long Island, St. Joseph’s College is dedicated to providing an academically strong and affordable education at the graduate and undergraduate level. QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. degree in sociology by September 2022. Also required are the ability to teach successfully and evidence of ongoing scholarship. The College does not sponsor H1-B visas.
