Admitted Student Reception
You are invited to sign- in for this event in the reception area through the main doors of O'Connor Hall, beginning at 10:30 a.m. We encourage you to chat with some of our current students and alumni who will be present.
At 11 a.m. in the Muriel and Virginia Pless Center for Performing Art, you’ll hear from President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., and senior administrators who will welcome you to campus, share our academic goals and explain the happenings of the day. You will also have the opportunity to hear from one of our current students.
Parents in the Process
During this session, parents will enjoy a humorous look at themselves and their new role as parents of a college bound student. With more than 25 years of experience in higher education, our speaker, Mary Ozechoski, will share how and why students are successful as undergraduates. In a section she calls "The Value of College," she will address parent's concerns regarding tuition costs, the employment outlook, ensuring future employment, liberal arts programs and how to get the most value out of a college education through experiences both in and out of the classroom. SJC's Director of Financial Aid Amy Thompson will also review the financial aid process and explain our SJC financial aid award letter.
While the parents enjoy their session, students gather in the McGann Conference Center located in O’Connor hall for a session of their own. Here they can ask a panel of current SJC students questions about anything they want—classes, schedules, professors, activities, athletics and more. This interactive session allows for open discussion and the opportunity to learn a lot more about SJC.
Academic/Student Services Fair
Following the parent and student sessions, families are reunited in the John A. Danzi Athletic Center for refreshments and the Academic/Student Services Fair. Representatives from our academic departments will be available to share information about courses, career opportunities and the features of our majors and minors. Students can also talk with students, coaches and administrators about the many student life opportunities, athletic teams, support services and student organizations available. Additionally, classroom breakout sessions will take place in the Business and Technology Building (BT Building) during this time. Campus tours will also be available and will depart from the Danzi Center lobby.
