    Performance: Arsenic and Old Lace

    Student members of the Drama Society at SJC Long Island will present “Arsenic and Old Lace,” a comedy by American playwright Joseph Kesselring, about the Brewster family, descended from the Mayflower, but now composed of insane homicidal maniacs. The hero, Mortimer Brewster, is a drama critic who must deal with his crazy, homicidal family and local police in Brooklyn, New York, as he debates whether to go through with his recent promise to marry the woman he loves.

    The Clare Rose Playhouse presents "First Things First" on April 27 and 28, May 4, 5, 11 and 12 at 8 p.m., and April 29, May 6 and 13 at 3 p.m.

    Pete and George are old friends. Pete is now happily married to Sarah and is appalled when George arrives with the news that his first wife, Jessica, was not killed in a climbing accident as they had originally thought. This revelation leads to a series of hilarious situations.
