Annual Dion Arroyo Memorial Scholarship Dinner Held

March 19, 2014

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. MARCH 20, 2014 The St. Josephs College (SJC) Alpha Phi Delta National Fraternity and the Epsilon Gamma Alumni Association recently hosted the annual Dion Arroyo Scholarship Dinner at Lombardis on the Bay in Patchogue on Friday, February 28.

The event raised funds for the Dion Arroyo Memorial Scholarship Fund and The Rose Brucia Educational Foundation, a local organization that is committed to reducing the number of child abductions in America by educating and empowering young minds with the knowledge necessary to avoid abduction.

This years recipient of the Dion Arroyo Memorial Scholarship was Matthew Wimpelberg 14, computer information systems major on SJCs Long Island Campus. Wimpelberg is a senior at SJC and is employed by Millennium Partners, a Manhattan-based hedge fund, where he works in programming infrastructure and engineering. In addition to the computer-based skills Wimpelberg has developed at SJC, he is an active yogi and is fluent in Spanish.

The Dion Arroyo Memorial Scholarship was endowed in 2006 to honor the memory of Dion Arroyo, SJC student and brother of the Delta Psi Omega Fraternity, who tragically died in a car accident on September 11, 2003. The scholarship is awarded annually to a male student who, like Dion, is a mathematics or computer science major on SJCs Long Island Campus.
