Drama Society Presents Student Production of “Grease”

PATCHOGUE, NY MARCH 8, 2013 The Drama Society at St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce it will host a student production of the musical Grease on Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 20 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 21 at 2 p.m.

Produced by the executive board members of the SJC Drama Society and directed by Valerie Lenz, lecturer of theatre arts at Stony Brook University, this popular musical set in 1959 at the fictional Rydell High School portrays the life 10 working-class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of love, friendship, rebellion and teen angst. A featured cast of 23 SJC students along with special guest roles played by Director of Student Activities/Co-Curricular Programs Marian Russo and Assistant Dean of Academic Services Debra Zaech is slated.

"We are incredibly proud to be able to present Grease as our first musical in five years, said Tara Kennedy, president of the SJC Drama Society. "This has been both a learning experience and adventure for everyone involved, but we welcomed the challenges in order to provide the SJC community with this wonderful event.

The SJC Drama Society is a creative outlet for students with a love for theater and is open to all students interested in sharing their talents on and off the stage. The Drama Society stages one show per semester. Each production holds open auditions.

The performances will take place in the DEcclesiis Auditorium in OConnor Hall located on SJCs Long Island Campus and are open to the public. Tickets are $10; $7 for students and seniors. For more information, email [email protected].
