Faculty Member Joins Partners Health Plan Board

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – DECEMBER 9, 2015 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that John Sardelis, Dr.P.H., M.A.A.A., A.S.A., professor and associate chairman of health administration at SJC, has been elected to the board of Partners Health Plan. 

Partners Health Plan is a new demonstration program between New York State Department of Health, the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid services. The program will be offered in New York City and Long Island, as well as Rockland and Westchester counties, with enrollment scheduled to begin April 1, 2016.

At SJC since 2003, Dr. Sardelis founded the St. Joseph’s College Healthcare Center for Outreach, Research and Education (CORE), which assists Long Islanders in addressing health disparities, providing up-to-date information on public programs and providing speakers on timely health issues. He is on the board of Affinity Health and IPRO, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, an associate of the Society of Actuaries and a fellow of New York Academy of Medicine. Dr. Sardelis received a bachelor’s in mathematics from Hunter College of the University of the City of New York, a master’s in statistics and operations research from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a doctor of public health from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
