February 18, 2013

Patchogue, NY February 19, 2013 St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that a ceremonial ribbon-cutting of its new Military and Veterans Lounge will take place on Thursday, February 21 at 12:30 p.m. The new Military and Veterans Lounge is located on the second floor of OConnor Hall on the Colleges Long Island Campus in Patchogue, N.Y. A ceremonial presentation will take place to commemorate the space.

"Currently, there are 183 military or veteran students enrolled at St. Joseph's College, and 116 are on the Long Island Campus alone, said Shannon ONeill, assistant dean for the School of Professional and Graduate Studies on the Long Island Campus. "The lounge is a place for those who have served or are currently serving our country, to find a quiet spot to study or to meet and get to know some of their fellow service members.

SJCs Military and Veterans Lounge has information on local resources for the veteran population, both on and off campus. An American flag flown over Iraq on July 4, 2010 was donated by an SJC student and currently hangs in the lounge.
