SJC and HIA Host Workforce Development Conference

PATCHOGUE, NY May 20, 2010 St. Josephs College and the Hauppauge Industrial Association (HIA) will co-host "Enhancing the Work Place in 2010, a workforce development conference on Thursday, June 10 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in OConnor Hall on the Colleges Long Island Campus.

Commissioner for the New York State Department of Labor Colleen Crawford Gardner will open the event with her address, "Business and the Workplace the Connection in this Competitive Economy, during an executive breakfast, providing attendees the opportunity to hear about thriving industries and programs and their impact on the future of Long Island business. The conference will then open up to four breakout seminar sessions covering topics such as internships, communication in the workplace and transitioning to a new career.

"Our goal at St. Josephs is to develop future leaders through education, said Lucille Curley, director of admissions for the School of Professional and Graduate Studies at St. Josephs College. "The goal of the HIA, through this conference, is to help businesses develop their workforce and develop future leaders for Long Island. Our goals are very much connected.

A scholarship awards luncheon will conclude the conference, where President of Dowling College Robert Gaffney will present the keynote address, "Developing Future Long Island Leaders.
