SJC Creates Hurricane Sandy Student Relief Fund

November 05, 2012

PATCHOGUE, NY NOVEMBER 6, 2012 In the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, St. Josephs College (SJC) has canceled its annual Scholarship Gala that was previously scheduled for November 8 at the Crest Hollow Country Club, and will instead focus its fundraising efforts on immediately helping students who were greatly affected by the tremendous amount of damage left in the wake of the hurricane.

With the support of generous sponsors such as Kimelman & Baird LLC, Edwards and Company and J. Petrocelli Contracting Inc., as well as many others, SJC established the Hurricane Sandy Student Relief Fund, to assist students who have lost homes, cars and a lifetime of irreplaceable possessions, and to ensure that those students are able to stay in school.

"Students from both our Long Island and Brooklyn Campuses live in some of the worst-hit communities, said Nancy Connors, vice president for the Office of Institutional Advancement. "Our goal right now is to assist our students as they cope with tremendous losses. We are very grateful for the support we have received so far and know that our students will be thankful as well.

For more information about the Hurricane Sandy Student Relief Fund, please call Nancy Connors, vice president for the Office of Institutional Advancement, at 631.687.2658 or 718.940.5580.
