SJC Long Island to Host Brazilian National Baseball Team

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) will welcome the Brazilian national baseball team to its Outdoor Field Complex (OFC) in Patchogue, New York from Friday, September 16 – Sunday, September 18.

Managed by Hall of Famer Barry Larkin, the Brazilian national baseball team is preparing for the fourth qualifying round of the World Baseball Classic with practices and games played at SJC’s OFC. Currently, Brazil is ranked 16th in the world for men’s baseball.

“It's not every day that an international baseball team visits our campus to prepare for a high profile event,” said Shantey Hill, assistant vice president and senior director of athletics for SJC.  “We are honored and privileged to have the team at SJC Long Island.”

The fourth qualifying round of the World Baseball Classic will begin on Thursday, September 22 with the first game at noon between Brazil and Pakistan at MCU Park in Brooklyn, New York.
