SJC Students Awarded Accounting Scholarships

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. MAY 31, 2013 St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that two students on its Long Island Campus were recently awarded Excellence in Accounting Scholarships from the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) for the 2013-14 school year. Katelyn Albanese 14 and John Gaillard Jr. 14 will each receive $2,500 scholarships for the full academic year.

The NYSSCPA scholarships are awarded to provide encouragement and financial aid to students majoring in accounting. Only top-level accounting students are considered for these scholarships. To qualify, Ms. Albanese and Mr. Gaillard Jr. achieved an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, while majoring in accounting at SJC.

"As an SJC faculty member, I am proud to be able to assist students in the application process for scholarship funds from the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, said John Skinnon, C.P.A., assistant professor of accounting on the Long Island Campus. "These awards help deserving students relieve some of the financial burden of meeting their educational goals.

The NYSSCPA is one of the largest state accounting organizations in the nation. It is an organization which seeks to inspire and assist deserving accounting students in their endeavors to enter into the accounting profession. The organization provides numerous scholarships to accounting students across the nation each year totaling in various amounts based on academic achievement and financial need.
