PATCHOGUE, NY NOVEMBER 29, 2012 St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that its mens soccer team will be partnering with the Miracle League of Long Island to host the Miracle League Holiday Celebration, a baseball game for children with disabilities, on Saturday, December 1 in the Danzi Center on its Long Island Campus.

"We are so excited to host this years event at St. Josephs College, said Kristine Fitzpatrick, president, Miracle League of Long Island. "The student athletes have graciously agreed to be elves to our children and help them hit the baseball and navigate the bases. We are all looking forward to a wonderful day.

The Miracle League of Long Island is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to providing people with disabilities an opportunity to experience the joy and benefits that come from playing baseball. This unique event will allow the children to play with the help of student volunteers from SJC, while aiming to develop social skills and self esteem, while promoting community support of the league.

"I feel that this is a very important event for SJC students to participate in, said Timothy Trava, assistant coach of the mens soccer and basketball teams on SJCs Long Island Campus. "Our athletics teams are always looking for ways to share their gifts with children that are not as fortunate and they are looking forward to another great experience.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with rotating games beginning at 10 a.m. For more information, please visit www.mllongisland.com.
