SJC to Host Careers in Human Services Event

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – JULY 24, 2014 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will host a Careers in Human Services event on Thursday, August 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Shea Conference Room, located on its Long Island Campus.

Featured panelists of the event include SJC alumni and faculty who will offer insight into careers in human services, focusing on the fields that are found in the news every day. Panelists will focus on addiction prevention and counseling services; veterans and military family support services; elderly community and housing services; and adolescent and youth services. 

“For potential students seeking to enter this field or for those wishing to move into a managerial and leadership role in the human services area, this seminar will help you scan the opportunities and decide if St. Joseph's College is the next step for you,” said Carolyn Gallogly, Ph.D., associate professor of human services at SJC. “Alumni, students and community members are all invited to attend to expand their networking opportunities and map out their career plans.”

Panelists include Michael Giuffrida ’08, M.S. ’13, residential manager for Montfort Therapeutic Residence; Marcelle Leis ’13, veteran peer group facilitator for Suffolk County United Veterans; Delaila Orama, M.S.W. ’09, social worker and addictions counselor at Family Service League; and Mary Robinson, M.S. ’11, senior service coordinator at Catholic Charities DVRC. The event will be moderated by Dr. Gallogly.
