SJC to Host HTM Symposium and Networking Breakfast

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. Ã¢â‚¬â€œ NOVEMBER 11, 2013 Ã¢â‚¬â€œ The Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Management (IHTM) at St. JosephÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s College (SJC) and the Long Island Hospitality and Leisure Association are pleased to host a symposium and networking breakfast, Ã¢â‚¬Å“Present and Future State of the IndustryÃ¢â‚¬Â on Friday, December 6 from 8-10 a.m. in the McGann Conference Center located in OÃ¢â‚¬â„¢Connor Hall on the CollegeÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Long Island Campus in Patchogue, N.Y.
The program will include a networking breakfast, followed by a panel presentation and Q&A session by local HTM experts. Panelists include Mike Johnston, principal of the Concorde Hotel Group and president of the Long Island Hospitality and Leisure Association; Moke McGowan, president and CEO of the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau and Steven Bate, president of the Long Island Wine Council.
Ã¢â‚¬Å“The SJC IHTM serves as a leading voice in the discussion of responsible hospitality and tourism,Ã¢â‚¬Â said Dr. Gail Lamberta, L.I. Campus associate dean, co-chair for hospitality and tourism management and associate professor and chairperson of the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies at SJC. Ã¢â‚¬Å“The upcoming symposium will provide students, faculty, staff and community leaders with the most recent information relative to the present and future state of the hospitality and tourism industry with an emphasis on agri-tourism and our noted vineyards and wineries.Ã¢â‚¬Â
The HTM Symposium at SJC follows the recent introduction of its new Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Management. The mission of the Institute is to provide a leading voice in the discussion of responsible hospitality as a critical component to running a successful enterprise. In addition, the College seeks to prepare students for professional careers in this growing field, while making a positive impact, not only on our local region, but on the global community as well.
