February 27, 2017

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – February 27, 2017 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that the College’s microsite, OnCampus, has won the Fair Media Council’s (FMC) 2017 Folio Award for Best Overall Blog Site Devoted to a Particular Topic or Interest. Awards will be distributed at a celebration luncheon on Tuesday, March 28.

“The creation and development of SJC’s OnCampus is the result of a collaborative effort by the team in our Office of Marketing and Communications,” said Jessica McAleer Decatur, vice president for marketing and communications at SJC. “Countless hours of work go into the continuous support and maintenance of the site. This award is well-deserved and I am so proud of everyone involved.”

OnCampus is the online source for the latest news from SJC’s two campus communities. On a weekly basis, the site promotes content across several media platforms, paying special attention to high-achieving students, successful alumni and influential faculty and staff members. The site also features content that examines SJC's relationship with the global community. Since its launch in August 2016, OnCampus has regularly produced thematic articles, videos and lists to capture what it feels like to be a part of SJC.

Founded in 1979, the FMC serves the public interest in all matters relating to media to ensure a variety of local news coverage, which is a necessary first step in promoting social change, social justice and helping communities move forward. FMC advocates for a variety of news and information in the market, to protect the public’s right to know and assesses the performance of the local news on a regular basis.
