ST. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE ASSOCIATE DEAN HONORED FOR LEADERSHIP

BROOKLYN and PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – September 1, 2021 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that Associate Dean of Community Development Gail Lamberta, Ph.D., will be honored at the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce’s 95th Anniversary Gala for her work on behalf of the organization. In addition, Dr. Lamberta has been named one of Long Island Business News’ Top 50 Women in Business.

“On behalf of the faculty at SJC, I want to congratulate Gail for these well-deserved honors,” said Eileen White Jahn, executive dean for SJC Long Island. “I have had the pleasure of working with Gail for many years and I can attest to her unwavering commitment and dedication to her students and community. I am thankful to have her as a friend and colleague.”

Dr. Lamberta began her tenure at SJC in 1988. During the last three decades, she has served in a variety of leadership roles at the College that include, but are not limited to, department chairperson, professor of recreation and leisure studies and coordinator for experiential learning. She also actively represents the college on a number of external committees and leads multiple community initiatives on behalf of SJC. 

Dr. Lamberta is part of the National College Credit Recommendation Service (CCRS) and a longtime advisory member of Long Island Leisure Services Association’s (LILSA) board of directors. She is a co-founder of the Blue Stars and Yellow Ribbons Veterans Initiative at SJC, and member of the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Strategic Planning Council and the advisory council for the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Regional STEM High School. Dr. Lamberta also serves on the board of directors for Vision Long Island, Discover Long Island and the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Youth Standing Committee of the Suffolk County Workforce Development Board, and serves on the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council’s Education, Workforce and Veterans Committee. She also sits on the L.I. Applied Learning Council, I am EM-POWERED Advisory Board, and the Manufacturing Technology Resource Consortium (MTRC) Advisory Board. Dr. Lamberta is a member of Leadership Huntington’s Class of 2016 and served as vice president of the board of directors.

Dr. Lamberta received a B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation from SJC. She received an M.A. in Exercise Physiology from Adelphi University and a Ph.D. in Health Services with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation from Walden University.
