Summer Workshops Offered in Health and Human Services

PATCHOGUE, NY MAY 7, 2012 The School of Professional and Graduate Studies at St. Josephs College is offering three, one credit "How To workshops for health and human service professionals on its Long Island Campus in Patchogue, NY during the month of June. Taught by experts in their fields, these workshops are designed to help students, agency employees and community members understand current hot topics in the field of human services, such as:

  Introduction to Fundraising Saturdays, June 9 and 16, 8:30 a.m. 4:40 p.m.

Registrants will learn how to choose and develop funding sources, funding approaches and how to create a fundraising plan. Topics will include, but are not limited to, designing a direct mailing, creating a database, maintaining relationships with donors, managing a campaign and planning events.

  Medicaid Mondays and Tuesdays, June 4, 5, 11 and 12, 6 9:45 p.m.

Registrants will learn the ins and outs of Medicaid, such as, who the plan covers, what it covers, how to apply and when to seek legal assistance in applying. Each registrant will complete a Medicaid application.

  Grant Proposal Writing Wednesdays and Thursdays, June 6, 7, 13 and 14, 6 9:45 p.m.

Registrants will learn how to plan and research grant writing options and how to organize, write and package a proposal. This workshop combines instruction with interactive exercises to help you become more detail-oriented and develop concise, persuasive writing techniques.
