HTM Professor Named Star of the Industry by NYSH&TA

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – August 13, 2018 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that Tina Ferro, chairperson of SJC Long Island’s hospitality and tourism management program and director of the Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Management at SJC Long Island, has been named Outstanding Tourism Educator of the Year by the New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association (NYSH&TA).

Ferro will receive an award at the Stars of the Industry Awards Gala this October which recognizes employees, managers, professors and executives in the hospitality and tourism industry for their determination and hard work. 

For more than 20 years, NYSH&TA’s Stars of the Industry Program has honored New York’s most dedicated and hard-working employees. Founded in 1887, NYSH&TA is the oldest state lodging association in the country. The association includes members from nearly all segments of the tourism industry and represents more than 1,100 members including hotels, motels, resorts, conference centers, country inns, bed and breakfast establishments, amusement parks, museums, historical sites, colleges and universities, and hospitality students.
