SJC to Host Renowned Political Correspondent Richard Benedetto

BROOKLYN AND PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – October 9, 2018 – St. Joseph’s College has invited Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow Richard Benedetto, retired White House correspondent and political columnist, for lectures at SJC Long Island on Monday, October 22 at 6 p.m. and Tuesday, October 23 at 12:40 p.m. Benedetto will then present at SJC Brooklyn on Wednesday, October 24 at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday, October 25 at 12:40 p.m. 

Benedetto is a retired White House correspondent and former columnist for USA Today and Gannett News Service. He reported on government and politics on the local, state and national levels for nearly 40 years. He continues his involvement in journalism as a consultant for C-SPAN, writing political commentary for various publications and teaching journalism at American University in Washington, D.C. 

As a journalist, Benedetto covered the presidencies of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, and covered every presidential campaign from 1984-2004 and every national political convention since 1976. Benedetto wrote a memoir of his long reporting career, Politicians Are People, Too, and received numerous journalism awards and the National Italian American Foundation Media Award.
