SJC Welcomes New Academic Dean

PATCHOGUE, NY July 1, 2009 St. Josephs College is pleased to announce that Dr. Katerina Andriotis-Baitinger has been hired as its new Long Island Campus academic dean for the School of Arts and Sciences.

A former assistant dean at the William J. Maxwell College of Arts and Sciences, a division of New Jersey City University, Dr. Andriotis-Baitinger has extensive experience in teaching, program development and leadership training. Her experience ranges from learning outcomes and assessment to academic advisement, program reviews and implementation, and writing and reading across curriculum initiatives.

Prior to her work at New Jersey City University, Dr. Andriotis-Baitinger was the director of academic advisement at Middlesex Community College in Connecticut, where she organized academic advising services for new and returning students and was an advisement resource to faculty and staff. She was also instrumental in the development and implementation of an ESL program at Briarwood College, where she was the English departments director.

Dr. Andriotis-Baitinger has a B.A. in Classical Languages from the University of California, Irvine, an M.A. in English and Comparative Literature from San Diego State University and a Ph.D. in English and Comparative Literature from the University of Athens. Her manuscript on Walt Whitman and Odysseus Elytis, Beyond Being and Time is currently pending publication.
