Long Island B.S. in Computer Science Teacher Certification

Begin your journey in the classroom. Help shape minds in grades K-12. Get ready.

Prepare for your future with a degree that’s at the very heart of our digital future. Inspire generations of digitally fluent students with our B.S in Computer Science Teacher Certification.

One of the first of its kind in New York state, our program provides the skills necessary to become a teacher of computer science and computing technology in grades K-12. With three distinct pathways, the program is open to traditional students looking for a four-year degree, those who already hold a teaching certificate in another field, and those who have experience in the industry and who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.

From introducing a kindergartener to their first Chromebook or iPad to teaching AP Computer Science in high school, this program offers those with a passion for computing the opportunity to instill that very passion in the minds of future generations.

"As a Latina woman looking for a career in computer science, it seemed intimidating to try and enter the field. There weren't many women in computer science; however, St. Joseph's University has changed that. Thanks to the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, my time at St. Joseph’s University has been worthwhile, and I can see myself as a successful female computer scientist with the tools that I have received."
