At SJC Long Island, our Office of Career Development and Engagement will bring you the tools you need to attain your career goals. This semester is filled with events to help you fill out your CV and find the job you want.
For education students, accounting and more, you'll learn how to put together a resume for student teaching placement and various internships, along with making a resume. Other topics will include effective resume terms, job search strategies and making the most of your internship experience.
There will be a presentation on the process of growing in your desired profession, along with tips and tools for how to maximize your education and experience here at St. Joseph’s College. A light lunch is provided and registration is recommended. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend. A guest speaker occasionally joins to discuss their background experiences and what led them to getting their position.
In collaboration with the Department of Campus Ministry: Student will have the opportunity to meet with employers to discuss opportunities for part-time work, internships and volunteer experiences. Professional dress is encouraged; a neat appearance is required along with copies of your resume.
During these workshops we present information for how best to prepare for an interview for your internship, how to make the most of your experience and how to conduct yourself in a professional manner.
In collaboration with the Counseling and Wellness Center, we bring to you a series on learning to become wellness professionals such as mental health counselor, art therapist and more presentation in our Careers in Wellness Series. Techniques and career paths are explored, guidance on graduate school and certification requirements will be covered. A light lunch will be provided and registration is recommended. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.
This workshop will cover effective job search strategies along with resume review for any student. Resources will be shared along with a quick resume review.
During this workshop we will be covering the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) from purpose to preparation. We will also cover one of the many requirements of graduate school, the personal statement; what is it, and how best to answer them.

Regardless what stage you are in, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and have their profile reviewed to ensure you are on your way to All-Star status. Come discover how to begin the processes of creating your LinkedIn profile along with a tour of the features of LinkedIn. After you have completed your, learn about building the right connections to expand your networking capabilities. We also cover how to conduct an effective job search through the tools and resources available to you in LinkedIn.
Panelists from various organizations, many alumni, will be speaking with you about their own experiences working with various international organizations. There will also be a fair afterwards with information on volunteer, internship and employment opportunities.
