Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate impoverished housing conditions and homelessness by making affordable housing a matter of conscience and action.

Habitat for Humanity enables the St. Joseph’s College community to meet, build homes and increase awareness of the poverty that exists in communities all over the country. No prior experience is needed. The club serves as a great way to make new friends while not only becoming involved at the College, but giving back to the community as well.

Every year, Habitat for Humanity participates in two Alternative Break trips – Alternative Winter Break and Alternative Spring Break. These weeklong trips give us the opportunity to travel outside of our immediate community, to work side-by-side with AmeriCorps volunteers on Habitat for Humanity sites across the country.

These trips are run with the help of the members of the service clubs S.T.A.R.S. (SJC Long Island) and S.T.R.I.P.E.S. (SJC Brooklyn), who also attend with us.
