Fitness Room Use/Rules

The policies of St. Joseph's University, New York’s John A. Danzi Athletic Center were developed to protect the center, the staff and the people who use it. Cooperation from the center’s participants is required to provide a setting where people can work out and be relaxed in a pleasant atmosphere.

CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS/FREE WEIGHT ROOMS

The large cardiovascular fitness room houses 18 Cybex weight machines, treadmills, rowers, EFX machines, exercise bikes and more. The strength training room includes iron grip barbells, an assortment of benches and a variety of weight plates. Food, drink and bags are prohibited from the fitness/free weight rooms. Proper attire is required.

FITNESS AND STRENGTH TRAINING CENTER RULES

  • No one under the age of 16 is permitted in the fitness rooms.
  • Appropriate athletic attire must be worn—no street clothes or shoes allowed.
  • Shirts must be worn.
  • No gum, food or drinks (other than water bottles) are permitted.
  • No personal radios. CD and MP3 players are permitted when used with headphones. Books, belongings and gym bags are to be left in appropriate locker rooms.
  • The following clothing is not acceptable as workout attire: jeans, jean shorts, khakis, khaki shorts, slip-on sandals and slip-on sneakers. Sports bras must be covered with shirts.
  • No equipment is to be removed from the rooms.
  • Workouts are only permitted when a staff member is present.
  • Replace weights on weight trees after use.
  • Towel dry the equipment after use.
  • Work within your own physical limits.
  • No loitering.
  • Staff members may require participants to leave the fitness center if their behavior is deemed disruptive, dangerous or inappropriate.
  • No basketballs are allowed in the rooms.
