In our innovative program, you will be exposed to a broad range of foreign language concepts, including oral, listening, reading and written expression, as well as Spanish and Latin American literature and culture.

As future teachers of an increasingly bilingual and diverse student population, this concentration will arm students with the tools to compete and succeed in this environment.

Child Study Major with a Concentration in Spanish

"The Department of Modern Languages at St. Joseph’s University allowed me to deepen my love for the Spanish language and culture. As a child study major, I knew I wanted to make my area of concentration Spanish because of the higher demand for teachers with a background in Spanish. Online Spanish classes have also been a great option for me! Student teaching, observation hours and other courses can take up a lot of your time. The online options for Spanish were great, and the classes were very flexible with my core courses as a child study major. Being a teacher to children and having the Spanish area of concentration will help me be able to connect with more Spanish-speaking children and their parents/guardians."
