SJC Announces Faculty Speaker’s Bureau

March 13, 2012 BK LI

BROOKLYN AND PATCHOGUE, NY - March 14, 2012 - St. Josephs College, noted for its outstanding academic reputation, is proud to announce the formation of a faculty Speakers Bureau on both its Brooklyn and Long Island campuses. Launched recently, the mission of the Bureau is to advance two of St. Josephs defining values - a commitment to scholarship and community service - by providing free lectures to enrich the intellectual and academic life in its home communities.

"At St. Josephs, we have an impressive faculty that can serve as an invaluable resource to the community, stated Dr. David Seppala-Holtzman, professor of mathematics, St. Josephs College. "Thus, the Speakers Bureau was created to bring their knowledge and expertise to local audiences in keeping with our deep commitment to the neighborhoods in which we operate. Through this bureau, we hope to contribute to intellectual life in the community by having our faculty speak to academic audiences in not only local high schools and colleges, but also to educational and cultural institutions in order to advance our mutual goals.

To date, the Speakers Bureau has nearly two dozen separate lectures across a wide range of disciplines and topics. In order to minimize the distance prospective speakers must travel, those wishing to invite a presenter are kindly asked to select faculty based at the campus closer to the prospective site.  To see what topics and themes are available, please click on the following link: https://www.sjny.edu/CommunityVisitors/Community-and-Visitors/896/
