BROOKLYN and PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – September 18, 2023 – St. Joseph’s University, New York (SJNY) was once again named one of the nation’s top universities by U.S. News & World Report. For more than a decade, St. Joseph’s has ranked among the nation’s top universities in the Regional Universities – North category, moving up a few spots on this year’s list.

Landing at #45 of top universities, SJNY also received accolades as the #19 Best College for Veterans and #39 for Social Mobility.

“I am proud of the ongoing accomplishments of our dedicated students, faculty and staff at St. Joseph’s, and these rankings are a testament to their hard work and commitment to our wonderful institution,” said SJNY President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D. “St. Joseph’s has been providing a world-class education to its students for more than 100 years. I look forward to all that we will accomplish in the next 100 years.”

In April 2022, President Boomgaarden announced that the New York State Board of Regents had approved St. Joseph’s College’s petition to be elevated to university status, and would change its name to St. Joseph’s University, New York. An historic moment for the more than century-old institution, it marked the beginning of St. Joseph’s next chapter as a mission-driven institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition that provides a strong academic and value-oriented education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and supports provision for career preparation and enhancement.

With campuses in Brooklyn, Long Island and Online, SJNY was selected to this year’s list of top Regional Universities–North based on its high graduation and retention rates, financial resources per student, peer assessment and student-to-faculty ratio, as well as the number of veterans enrolled and eligibility in the 9/11 GI® Bill Yellow Ribbon Program.
