BROOKLYN AND LONG ISLAND, N.Y. – September 9, 2014 - St. Joseph’s College (SJC) was recently recognized by two prestigious publications as an outstanding college in the region. For more than a decade, SJC has been selected as one of the nation’s top colleges by U.S. News and World Report, ranking in the top-tier of Regional Universities – North category. This year, the College was also recognized as a prime destination for veteran students by the publication, and for the eighth consecutive year, was named as one of “America’s Top Colleges” by Forbes Magazine.

"St. Joseph’s regularly ranks among the best colleges and universities in the nation, as listed in U.S. News and World Report and Forbes Magazine, because of our commitment to excellence in student learning," said SJC President Jack P. Calareso. "Our dedicated faculty, small class sizes and affordable tuition create a unique environment in which our students are able to grow, both personally and academically, preparing them for successful lives and careers."

With campuses in Brooklyn and Long Island, SJC was selected to this year’s list of top Regional Universities – North based upon its high graduation and retention rates, assessment of excellence, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performances and alumni giving. In addition, SJC was also recognized as a prime destination for veteran students, ranking #27 in the region under the “Best Colleges for Veterans” category.

For this year’s listing, Forbes Magazine evaluated institutions on what students received throughout their college careers, rather than admissions criteria. Student satisfaction, post-graduate success, graduation rate and academic success were all taken into account while compiling these rankings.
